-The heat er must be checked w it h a full cylinder.
-M ake sure t he safet y cont rol valve is in t he OFF posit ion.
-M ake a soap solut ion of one part liquid det ergent and one part wat er.The soap solut ion can
be applied w it h a spray bot t le, brush or rag.
-Soap bubbles w ill appear in case of a leak.
-Turn t he gas supply ON.
-In case of a leak, t urn off t he gas supply.Tight en any leaking fit t ings, t hen t urn t he gas supply
on and recheck.Cont act your dealer for assist ance if bubbles cont inue t o appear.
-Never leak t est w hile smoking.
FUEL GAS ODOR
LP gas and nat ural gas have manmade odorant s added specifically for det ect ion of fuel gas
leaks.
If a gas leak occurs you should be able t o smell t he fuel gas. Since Propane (LP)is heavier t han
air you should smell for t he gas odor low t o t he floor. ANY GAS ODOR IS YOUR SIGNAL TO GO
INTO IM M EDIATE ACTION!
-Do not t ake any act ion t hat could ignit e t he fuel gas. Do not operat e any elect rical
sw it ches.Do not pull any pow er supply or ext ension cords. Do not light mat ches or any ot her
source of flame. Do not use your t elephone.
-Get everyone out of t he building and aw ay from t he area immediat ely.
-Close all propane (LP) gas t ank or cylinder fuel supply valves,or t he main fuel supply valve
locat ed at t he met er if you use nat ural gas.
-Propane (LP) gas is heavier t han air and may set t le in low areas. When you have reason t o
suspect a propane leak, keep out of all low areas.
-Use your neighbor's phone and call your fuel gas supplier and your fire depart ment . Do not
reent er t he buiding or area.
-St ay out of t he building and aw ay from t he area unt il declared safe by t he firefight ers and
your fuel gas supplier.
-FINALLY, let t he fuel gas service person and t he firefight ers check for escaped gas. Have t hem
air out t he building and area before you ret urn. Properly t rained service people must repair
any leaks, check for furt her leakages, and t hen relight t he appliance for you.
OPERATION AND STORAGE
TO TURN ON THE HEATER
1. Turn on t he valve on t he gas supply cylinder complet ely.
2. Press and t urn t he variable cont rol knob t o PILOT posit ion (count er-clockw ise 90º )
3. Press dow n t he variable cont rol knob and hold for 30 seconds. While holding dow n t he
variable cont rol knob aft er t he pilot flame light s.
Not e:
If a new t ank has just been connect ed, please allow s at least one minut e for t he air in t he gas
pipeline t o purge out t hrough t he pilot hole.
When light ing t he pilot flame make sure t hat t he variable cont rol knob is cont inuously pressed
dow n w hile pressing t he ignit er but t on. Variable cont rol knob can be released aft er t he pilot
flame light s.
Pilot flame can be w at ched and checked from t he small round w indow w it h sliding lid locat ed
at t he bot t om of t he flame screen (t o t he left or right side of t he cont roller).
If t he pilot flame does not light or it goes out ,REPEAT STEP 3.
4. Aft er t he pilot flame light s, t urn t he variable cont rol knob t o minimum posit ion and leave it
t here for 5 minut es or more before t urning t he knob t o desired t emperat ure posit ion.
