Maintenance
Checking and cleaning the wheel guard
connection
Run the machine at free speed simultaneously push-
ing the locking arm upwards. Check that the wheel
guard is properly clamped by the air pressure (heavy
force needed for turning). If air is leaking at the
wheel guard vibrations may be increased – replace
O-rings when necessary.
When it is required to clean at or under the locking
arm, dismantle backing flange and wheel guard ac-
cording to figure.
Oil changing
For best service life the oil should be changed four
times a year at heavy duty applications and twice a
year at light duty operation respectively.
The gear is to be lubricated with Atlas Copco oil
4080 0870 90 or similar of other reputable make.
To avoid overfilling, which could result in a rise
in temperature and damage to seal, no topping up of
oil is recommended. Instead the oil should be drained
and changed by refilling 20 ml of new oil when
holding the machine vertically with the throttle
handle pointing upwards. The proper amount of oil
is indicated when oil is pouring out at the oil filling
holes. Clean and refit both oil plugs.
A
The gear case must not be put under pres-
sure – do not use compressed air for cleaning
at oil changing.
The ball bearings are permanently lubricated or
running in oil bath.

Overhaul
Twice a year at heavy duty operation and once a year
at light duty operation respectively the machine
should be dismantled for cleaning of strainers, motor
casing cover draining slots as well as the wheel guard
locking arm and its connection, fig.

Safety and operating instructions
A
Be particularly careful with the speed gov-
ernor and the overspeed shut-off device.
Careless treatment may pre- vent them func-
tion correctly. If the machine stops or does
not reach rated speed when air is connected,
the over- speed shut-off device may have
closed the inlet air. The machine must be
dismantled and checked before resett- ing
the overspeed shut-off device, fig.
Check that governor and strainer are properly
reassembled to avoid malfunction.
Always check the free speed of the machine after
service, fig.
Concerning complete instructions for dismantling
and assembly, see separate service instruction.
Bearings and sealings are to be replaced after 1 – 2
years of heavy duty operation and 2 – 4 at light duty
respectively.

This maintenence must be done from Atlas

Ergonomic guidelines
) Take frequent breaks and change work positions
1
frequently.
) Adapt the workstation area to your needs and the
2
work task.
• Adjust for convenient reach range by determin-
ing where parts or tools should be located to
avoid static load.
• Use workstation equipment such as tables and
chairs appropriate for the work task.
) Avoid work positions above shoulder level or with
3
static holding during assembly operations.
• When working above shoulder level, reduce
the load on the static muscles by reducing the
weight of the tool, using for example torque
arms, hose reels or weight balancers. You can
also reduce the load on the static muscles by
holding the tool close to the body.
• Make sure to take frequent breaks.
• Avoid extreme arm or wrist postures, particu-
larly for operations requiring a degree of force.
) Adjust for convenient field of vision by minimiz-
4
ing movement of the eyes and head during the
work task.
) Use the appropriate lighting for the work task.
