−
Tighten the attachment bolts (4) by hand or with a tool. The drum clamp must be secured with the
safety chain (5) to the mast of the forklift truck. Both carabiner hooks must be secured in the
drum clamp eyelet.
−
The drum clamp is now ready for use.
6. Operation
Fitting to the drum
Check first of all that the drum is suitable, clean and undamaged. Check the edge of the drum in
particular.
1. Approach the drum to be picked up centrally with the drum clamp.
2. The grippers open and close automatically.
3. Lift the grippers to the level of the upper rim of the drum.
4. Adjust both sides simultaneously with the adjusting screw (1) until the
grippers fit against the wall of the drum. The scale on the screw (3) can
be used to make sure both sides are adjusted evenly.
5. Lock the adjusting mechanism with the locking ring (2).
6. Lift the drum a little and then lower it in short jerky steps to check it is
securely held.
7. Gently lift the drum with the forklift.
8. The drum clamp is now ready to transport more of the same type of
drum without further adjustment.
Drum transport
−
Drums should only be slightly raised when being transported.
−
Avoid shaking the drums.
−
Keep your speed suitable for the condition of the ground or floor.
−
Do not exceed walking speed.
−
Do not brake suddenly, turn quickly on the spot or drive over uneven ground as this can
lead to the drum being dropped.
−
In Ex zones, keep to a speed of less than 1 m/s to avoid a build up of sparks.
Unloading
When unloading, lower the drum clamp carefully. As soon as the load touches the ground the grippers
unlock automatically.
7. Maintenance and repair
To guarantee safe working with the product the following checks are necessary:
Regular check for ease of movement of the moving parts and if necessary lubrication with com-
-
mercially-available grease.
Regular visual inspections and operational checks at intervals of max. one year by a technical spe-
-
cialist.
A visual and functional check should include fissures, deformities, cracks, damage, wear, corrosion
-
damage and functional faults of the product and also that it is suitable for the types of drum transport-
ed.
An inspection report log is to be compiled and kept by the operator as proof that the checks have
-
been carried out.
Additional tests should be carried out by a qualified technician in the event of damage or particular
-
incidents that could influence carrying capacity and after any repairs.
The equipment may need to be cleaned before a visual and functional check. This particularly applies
-
if the forklift attachment has been contaminated during use by materials such as dyes and salts.
