Make sure harness connector pin is
captured between harness webbing straps
and D-pad and that it is completely closed
and locked (see Fig. C9 and C10).
3.2 Reverse Configuration
(See Fig. D and E)
Select SRL/Fall Limiters may also be
used in a reverse configuration where
the lifeline/lanyard end connector (i.e.,
snap hook, carabiner or rebar hook) is
connected to a compatible anchorage or
anchorage connector and the body of the
retractable unit is attached to the back
D-ring on the full-body harness
Note: The weight of the retractable unit
should be considered when choosing this
reverse configuration for connecting to
the body support and anchorage.
WARNING
All Honeywell Miller Self-Retracting
Lifelines must be inspected and
tested for locking and retraction
before each use (see section 5.0
Inspection & Maintenance).
3.3 Leading Edge Installation
Special Requirements, Warnings &
Limitations pertaining to All Leading
Edge Applications
• The anchor point must be at the same
height or higher than the edge at
which a fall might occur.
• The allowable angle of redirection
of the lifeline portion of the device
at the edge over which a fall might
occur (as measured between the
two sides formed by the redirected
lanyard) shall be at least 90 degrees.
• The potential for a swing fall must
be minimized for worker and lifeline
protection. The worker must never
work on the far side of an opening,
opposite the anchor point.
• TurboLite
Edge
Limiters are specifically designed
to reduce forces to both the worker
and lifeline connection that extends
beyond a leading edge. Applications
for leading edge retractables include
steel decking, concrete and wood
surfaces. Despite the wide range of
applications for these units, surfaces
in contact with the equipment must
still be evaluated by a qualified person
Personal
Fall
in regards to creating premature
wear and/or failure due to excessive
abrasion or cutting of materials.
Special Anchorage Requirements
for Leading Edge Applications
Honeywell Safety Products approves a
connection height at foot level/working
surface or higher for TurboLite Edge
Personal Fall Limiters. Minimum set-back
distance varies by unit; refer to TABLE 1 in
Appendix A: Minimum Set-Back Distance
Anchorage Requirements.
Lateral edge distance (work zone) must be
limited to 6 ft (1.8 m) from perpendicular
to the anchor point (see Diagrams1 & 2).
IMPORTANT!
A TurboLite Edge unit anchored at the
edge (no set-back distance) with a user
working at the maximum 6 ft (1.8m)
lateral edge distance (work zone)
will experience the greatest swing
fall allowed for a TurboLite leading
edge application. It is imperative
that swing fall be limited as much as
possible. This can be accomplished by
increasing the set-back distance and/
or limiting the work zone. A swing fall
hazard must not exist in the path of
the potential swing fall.
3.4 Tie-Back Installation
(See Fig. E)
[Applies
to
Personal Fall Limiters ONLY] Miller Turbo
T-BAK Tie-Back Personal Fall Limiters
are Self-Retracting Lifelines that are
uniquely engineered to allow the user
to tie-off safely to an anchorage. Miller
Turbo T-BAK Personal Fall Limiters are
designed
with
resistant webbing and a 5K snap hook,
which is capable of withstanding 5,000
lb of force on the snap hook gate from
any angle, to allow connection back to
the web lifeline in a choking fashion. DO
NOT attempt this type of connection with
standard TurboLite Personal Fall Limiters
or other Self-Retracting Lifelines which
are not specifically designed for such a
connection.
