4.1.2
Mounting and shortening the PA liner
For PA liners with a 4.0 mm outer diameter, the capillary tube in the distance
adaptor must be replaced with a guide tube.
1 Lay out the cable assembly straight.
2 Sharpen the PA liner to an angle of 40° with the ABICOR BINZEL
sharpener.
3 Push in the sharpened PA liner until it reaches the contact tip.
4.2
Preparing the welding torch for cable assembly installation
1 Switch off the welding power source and pull out the mains plug.
2 Close off the gas and compressed air supplies.
4.3
Setting up the welding torch
The MIG/MAG manual welding torches are fully equipped upon delivery.
Information about replacing the wear parts and the wire guide can be found
here:
4.4
Connecting the cable assembly
1 On the wire feeder: Push the central connector into the connection bush.
2 On the wire feeder: Secure the cable assembly with the connection nut.
3 For liquid-cooled welding torches only: Connect the coolant hoses.
4.5 Connecting the coolant hoses on page EN-31
► Check the coolant's minimum fill level.
4.5
Connecting the coolant hoses
1 Connect the coolant supply (blue) and coolant return (red).
2 Check the coolant's minimum fill level.
► Recommendation: Use ABICOR BINZEL coolants from the BTC range.
4.6
Bleeding the coolant circuit
1 Place the collection receptacle under the connection for the coolant
return (red).
2 Disconnect the coolant return hose from the cooling unit and hold it over
collection receptacle.
3 Seal the coolant return hose's opening.
4.7
Setting the shielding gas
The type and amount of shielding gas used depend on the welding task and
the gas nozzle geometry.
1 Select the appropriate shielding gas for the welding task.
2 Briefly open the valve on the gas supply then close it again to air-blast
away any dirt on the connector.
4.8
Feeding in the wire
CAUTION
Risk of injury from the wire electrode
Physical injury caused by the start of the wire.
► Keep the process-side drive away from the body and do not direct it towards other people.
1 Use the side-cutting pliers to cut a short piece off the start of the wire to
remove any possible burr.
2 Insert the wire into the wire feeder as specified by the manufacturer.
4 On the central connector: Slide the clamp nipple and O-ring onto the
PA liner.
5 On the central connector: Hand-tighten the nut under tension.
6 The PA liner must end immediately in front of the wire feeder's feed rolls.
Determine the maximum excess length and mark it on the PA liner.
7 Use the ABICOR BINZEL cutters to cut the PA liner where marked and
debur the edge.
3 Switch off the coolant circuit.
7 Maintenance and cleaning on page EN-32
► Recommendation: Use ABICOR BINZEL coolants from the BTC range.
► To prevent damage to the welding device, do not use deionised or
demineralised water.
► Bleed the coolant circuit upon commissioning and when replacing the
cable assembly.

cable assembly.
4 Abruptly open then seal the coolant return hose's opening several times
until the coolant flows into the collection receptacle continuously and
without air bubbles.
5 Reconnect the coolant return hose to the cooling unit.
3 Connect the shielding gas to the welding device as per the
manufacturer's instructions.
4 Adjust the shielding gas volume to the gas nozzle used and the welding
task and save the setting.
3 Press the >zero-current wire feed< trigger on the wire feeder until wire
emerges from the contact tip.
4 Cut off any protruding wire with the side-cutting pliers.
4 Putting into operation
