8. Installing the Bypass Smart
Connecting sources
When setting up the Bypass Smart system, it is
essential to check the required air flow connections to
ensure due system performance. Connections can be
found on the diagrams on page 3. Source A
corresponds to the red tapping point and source B to the
blue tapping point. The grey tapping point is used to
connect to the VMI® system.
The "direct" outdoor air inlet must be connected to
source B (blue tapping point). Source A corresponds to
the air passing through a secondary heating or cooling
system (solar panel, ground-coupled heat exchanger,
etc.).

Insulated ducts are recommended.
Once the Bypass Smart has been installed, calibrate the
system using an original new VMI® ePM1 55% filter.
This filter can be obtained from VMI® or an authorised
VMI® retailer. Contact VMI® for more information.
Connecting the control cable
The Bypass Smart is controlled by the VMI®
PUREVENT system. The Bypass Smart is connected
via the control cable included.
▪ Cut the power supply to the VMI® PUREVENT system
▪ Open the VMI® PUREVENT cover
▪ Remove the filter hatch
▪ Insert the control cable in the cable gland
▪ Plug the connector into the « Ext. » port (see
page 3 – Bypass Smart)
▪ Insert the cable into the groove provided for this
purpose
▪ Close the VMI® PUREVENT cover and filter hatch
▪ Power up
Configuring the system
Using the VMI® LINK PRO app
The
Bypass
Smart
installed and configured via the
VMI® LINK PRO application. This
application can be downloaded
from Google Play store (Android)
and Apple store (iOS).
