4.
Operating the equipment
4.1
Overview of Controls
The dryer operates on a fixed cycle, controlled via a pneumatically driven cam timer within the pneumatic enclosure.
There are no controls or display except for the two pressure gauges on the front facia. The column that is "on-line" will be at
the pressure indicated on the associated gauge. The column that is re-generating will be approximately at atmospheric
pressure, which will be indicated on the gauge for that column.
4.2
Starting the equipment
Start-up should be undertaken by a domnick hunter trained, qualified and approved service engineer.
Warning
1.
Ensure that the isolation valves on the inlet and the outlet of the dryer are closed.
2.
Slowly open the isolation valve on the inlet of the dryer. The dryer will start automatically.
3.
Verify that there are no leaks.
4.
Check that the system pressure relief valve is closed.
5.
Test the condensate drains of the filters and verify that they are discharging correctly into a suitable collection vessel
(refer to the drain manual).
6.
Slowly open the outlet isolation valve to allow the system to pressurise.
If a bypass line has been fitted, close the bypass valve.
No further intervention is required for normal operation.
4.3
Stopping the equipment
1.
If a bypass line is fitted, open the bypass valve.
2.
Close the isolation valve on the outlet followed by the isolation valve on the inlet.
3.
De-pressurise the dryer by venting through the drain ball valve on the outlet dust filter.
Note: The drain valve should be opened gradually.
Note:-Small amount of air may be trapped between inlet isolation valve and dryer inlet.
4.4
Normal Operation
No further intervention is necessary. Please follow the routine service intervals in Section 5 of this guide.
