10 Printing objects
To print a 3D object, SIMPLEX requires toolpath information that is generated from 3D object CAD files
en
such as obj or stl Toolpath information is known as a "G-code"
The SIMPLEX sliceware program converts 3D design files into a G-code.
You can obtain the SIMPLEX sliceware program via the Renfert CONNECT app (see Chap. 9)
You can use the SIMPLEX print program to send the generated G-code to the printer via a USB cable and
print it out, or copy it to a USB flash drive and use it to create a print object.
Ensure that the print bed has been correctly leveled before printing (see Chap. 5.4).
If you use a different filament for printing than for the previous print object, you must recalibrate
the FMS system (see Chap. 5.7.2).
10.1
Printing using a USB flash drive
⇒ Connect the USB flash drive to your PC.
⇒ Save the G-code generated with SIMPLEX sliceware on the USB flash drive provided.
The file name must not contain any special characters or umlauts. These cannot be read by the printer.
Printing cannot be started, and an error message is shown
⇒ Switch off the SIMPLEX unit (ON/OFF switch 13, Fig. 1).
⇒ Insert the USB flash drive into the USB port (11, Fig. 1) on the SIMPLEX unit.
⇒ Switch on the SIMPLEX unit (ON/OFF switch, 13, Fig. 1).
⇒ Select the USB
⇒ Use the arrows
Using the right arrow
through the directory structure of the USB flash drive.
Ensure that you have the right filament and enough of it for the selected
project. The quantity was calculated by SIMPLEX sliceware.
⇒ Press the printer icon
♦ The unit warms the extruder and the print bed to the temperatures stored in the G-code.
♦ As long as the temperatures have not yet been reached, the two letters "H" and "B" are shown in red
on the display
H: Head = Print head
B: Bed = Print bed
♦ As soon as the stored temperatures are reached with sufficient accuracy, the color of the letters
changes to white, and printing begins
During printing, the following information is shown on the display:
• Name of the file to be printed
• Head (H) and bed (B) temperature
• Z-position information
• Printing speed
• Filament: remaining / total
• Progress bar with information in % as well as elapsed time / total time required.
Printing is complete:
♦ For easier removal of the object, the print bed is automatically lowered a little
and the print head is moved to the home position
♦ A corresponding message is shown on the display. This can be confirmed
with "OK"
Caution! Danger of burns!
The print head and print bed could still be hot.
Wear protective gloves!
⇒ If necessary, you can use the "AXES" menu to lower the print bed further.
⇒ Remove the object from the print bed Carefully remove the object with one hand using a slight twisting
motion while holding the print bed with the other hand. If the object is difficult to remove, use the spatula
provided
menu (Fig. 9).
