1. Operation instructions
1.1 Description of the
appliance
With electric storage heaters, electrically-
generated heat is stored during the econom-
ical off-peak periods at low tariff (depending
on the electricity utility concerned, but in
most cases during the night). This heat is then
given off again, depending on the room
temperatures required, in the form of hot air
by means of a blower fan, and to a lesser
extent also via the surface of the appliance.
1.2 Operation
To operate the appliance, first raise the cover
of the control panel (1) located on the front
wall.

Heat storage (charging) –
infinitely adjustable selector switch
Heat emission (discharge) –

1.2.1 Heat storage
The selector switch R1 is used to determine
the degree of heat storage (charging).
Therefore the kind of operation must be
chosen between manual charge control or
the weather influenced charge control,
which should be in the wiring cabinet (main
switching board ?).
If there is no charging control unit installed
(manual operation), the selector switch
should be adjusted as follows:
16
for the user and the professional
I = Transition period (spring/autumn) -
corresponds to about
1
II = Mild winter's day - corresponds to
about
2
/
of full charge
3
III = Winter's day - corresponds to full charge
= No charge
Once you have had a short period of time to
get used to the system, you will have the
experience needed to find the right setting
for each situation.
If a charging control unit is already installed
(automatik operation), the selector switch
should be set to Position III. The charging
control unit, which is influenced by the
weather conditions, then takes care of the
correct charging process.
For differential regulation of single storage-
heaters it is possible to adapt the operation
for the charging load manually, if a charge
control already exists.
To do this, refer to the operating and
installation instructions for the charging
control unit, or the group control device.
1.2.2 Heat discharge
Heat emission (discharge) is regulated by
means of a Stiebel Eltron room-temperature-
sensor mounted on the wall or integrated in
the appliance
(special accessory).
In this situation the desired room tempera-
ture is to be set, which then automatically
regulates the emission of heat via the blower
fan, so that the room temperature which has
been set will be constantly maintained.
On very cold days, if you are going to be
away, it is recommended that the room tem-
perature regulator be left switched on in
order to keep the room temperature at
about 10 ºC, for example, so that the room
does not become excessively cold (to
protect against freezing).
1.3 Safety instructions
The appliance must not:
– Be operated in areas which are subject
to the risk of fire or explosion due to
chemicals, dust, gases or vapours;
– Be operated in the immediate vicinity of
pipes or containers which carry or
contain combustible or potentially explo-
sive substances.
– Be operated, at less as the minimum
clearance distances advised.
•
Installation (electrical installation) and first
taking into service and maintenance of this
appliance may only be carried out by an
approved qualified installer, and in
accordance with these instructions.
•
Under no circumstances may be the
appliance be operated if work is being
carried out in the room concerned, such as
laying, grinding, sealing, cleaning with petrol,
or care work (spraying, wax polishing) of
the floor or similar areas.
After such work has been carried out, the
/
of full charge
room must be allowed to cool sufficiently
3
before the storage heater is charged.
•
During operation the surface of the heater
and the outcoming air will be hot ( more
than 80°C). Danger of burning !
Keep children away from heater!
•
Never leave inflammable, combustible or
heat insulating articles or materials like
clothing, laundry, blankets, newspapers,
floor wax, gasoline, sprays, paints or similar
in the vicinity of the heater.
Do not place anything, especially no
laundry or clothing for drying on the
heater. Danger of fire !
•
The following minimum distance intervals
must be maintained between the appliance
for objects of all kinds, such as furniture,
drapes, curtains and textiles, or other
combustible or non-combustible materials,
especially with regard to the air outlet grille:
To the air outlet grille
To the right-hand side wall
for combustible items
for non-combustible items ⇒ 70 mm
To the left-hand wall
To the cover
The hot air must be allowed to
emerge without any obstacles.
•
The adhesive notification label provided
with these Instructions for Use and Instal-
lation, „Do not place any items on this
appliance or lean them against it" should
be affixed in a clearly visible place on the
cover of the appliance in any areas used
for commercial purposes, such as hotels,
holiday homes, schools, etc.
1.4 Care and maintenance
In the event of slight brownish discolouration
occurring on the appliance housing, it should
be wiped off as soon as possible with a damp
cloth and hot soap water.
The appliance is to be cleaned when in the
cool state with conventional cleaning agents.
Avoid scouring or abrasive cleaning agents.
Do not spray any cleaning spray into the air
slots.
The blower fan channel behind the air outlet
grille (5) should be checked by a qualified
installer every two years. Slight dirt deposits
may gather there.
Whenever you have the heaters serviced, we
propose to check also the control- and
regulations of the heaters. At the latest 10
years after taking them into work, you must
check the Safety- and Control-Regulations
and the Load- and Discharge-Control-Sys-
tem, by a skilled electrician.
1.4.1 Cleaning the fluff screen T
The fluff screen (7) which is located in the
air intake grille (6) must be cleaned regularly,
in order to guarantee that the heat storage
unit will discharge heat perfectly.
If the fluff screen is blocked, the fans will
switch off.
