INSTALLING THE CHARGE CONTROLLER
Make sure that all connections are clean and sealed, to prevent electric arcs and overheat-
ing. The controller must be installed somewhere that meets the following conditions:
• Dry: avoid locations where the controller might come into contact with water.
• Cool: ambient temperature of between 0 °C and 40 °C (30 °F and 105 °F).
• Ventilated: make sure to leave a space of at least 50 mm above and below the controller,
and a space of at least 25 mm on both sides, so that air can circulate easily.
CAUTION: All electronic circuits can be damaged by static electricity. To minimise the likeli-
hood of electro-static damage, discharge yourself by touching an electrical earth (such as a

copper pipe) before touching the unit.
Fixing
Fixing is optional. However, for the best results, place the charge controller as close as pos-
sible to the batteries and the batteries and charge controller as close as possible to the pan-
els. The controller can be mounted vertically or horizontally. Make sure that the controller
is aligned so that the open end of the controller (if applicable) is facing upwards. This will
prevent foreign objects from getting stuck in the device.
Fix the controller securely so that it cannot slip in any direction.
IMPORTANT: Loose connections will cause excessive voltage drops and can lead to the wir-
ing overheating and melted insulation. In turn this can cause failure of the solar system and
lead to electrical fires.
