MOWING TIPS
NOTE: A sharp blade will greatly enhance the performance of the mower, especially when cutting
high grass. Be sure to check the blade and to sharpen it at least once per year, as described in the
Maintenance section.
•
Check that there are no stones, sticks, wires or other objects in the lawn that could damage the blades or the
engine. These objects could be accidentally thrown by the mower in any direction, and could cause serious
personal injury to the operator and others. To avoid electric shock, do not operate the mower in wet or damp
conditions.
•
Do not mow in a circle. Go from one end of the lawn to the other.
•
When mowing a thick lawn, reduce the drive speed to allow more efficient cutting and proper discharge of the
prunings.
•
For a healthy lawn, always cut a third or less of the total length of the grass. The average size of the lawn should
be approximately 1 to 2 inches long during the cold months and 2 to 3 1/4 inches long during the hot months.
If the grass grows, it should be cut in the fall.
•
Do not mow wet or damp grass. An unstable foot may cause it to fall.
•
Always work at a right angle to the slope.
•
Do not mow the grass near slopes, ditches or embankments, because it could lose its balance or stability.
EMPTYING THE GRASS COLLECTION BASKET
NOTE: If the fill indicator (22) closes, it means that the collection container is full and must be
emptied.
•
Stop the mower, allow the blades to come to a complete stop and remove the battery.
•
Lift the protective cover of the basket.
•
Lift the grass catcher basket by its handle to remove it from the mower.
•
Empty the grass clippings.
•
Lift the protective cover and reinstall the grass catcher basket as described earlier in
this manual.
