Installing the Active Serial Box
The Vinten Active Serial Box seamlessly integrates with a Vector 950 OE pan and tilt head. Please refer
to the Vector 950 OE operators guide for detail on safely setting up the pan and tilt head (see Associated
Publication on page 9).
Fitting to the head
The Active Serial Box is supplied with a head mounting bracket (8) which attaches to fixing holes on the
underside of the pan and tilt head. There are two methods of mounting this bracket, one for permanent
fixing, and another for quick release.
To permanently mount the Active Serial Box to a Vector 950 OE pan and tilt head, proceed as follows:
Position the head mounting bracket (8) as shown in (Fig 2) and attach securely in place using the
two countersunk fixing screws (13).
For quick release mounting of the Active Serial Box to a Vector 950 OE pan and tilt head, proceed as fol-
lows:
Loosely fit the two quick release fixing screws and washers (9) in the positions shown in (Fig 3),
engaging the threads by a couple of turns. Engage the lead mounting slot (8.1) beneath the fixing
screw and washer (9) as shown in (Fig 3).
Rotate the head mounting bracket (8) to engage the radial mounting slot (8.2).
Tightly secure both quick release fixing screws (9) using a suitable spanner or screwdriver.
To remove the quick release head mounting bracket, reverse the mounting procedure.
WARNING!
Do NOT attempt to lift and carry the pan and tilt head via the head mounting
bracket (8).
Power connection
12-volt power from the camera's DC output port is connected to the power input socket (7) using the DC
power cable (refer to Parts List on page 15). Alternatively, mains power may be used with the optional
power supply unit (4), mounted to the underside of the Active Serial Box with two PSU mounting brackets
(5) and secured with four fixing screws. For clarification of system cable connections refer to (Fig 4) on
page 116.
Head encoder connection
Connect the head encoders port (11) to the encoder connector on the Vector 950 OE pan and tilt head,
using the head encoder cable. For more information please refer to the Vector 950 OE Operators Guide
(Publication Part No. V3984-4980) and the Parts List on page 15. For clarification of system cable con-
nections refer to (Fig 4) on page 116.
Lens serial connection
Connect the lens serial port (12) to the virtual port on the Canon lens, using the appropriate lens cable (Re-
fer to Parts List on page 15). For clarification of system cable connections refer to (Fig 4) on page 116.
