3. Installation
The equipment must be operated at places providing all the necessary conditions for its safe operation.
The machine should be connected to a line (230V 50 Hz) provided with protective grounding, fuse and protection switch.
Check if the plug matches the electrical socket.
Always comply with the provisions of standards when repairing and installing the equipment.
Gas bottle (small size!): Equip the gas bottle with pressure regulator and flow meter
according to the instruction manual. Put the gas bottle onto the equipment, secure it by the
chain carefully and mount the flare nut of the gas hose to the regulator output by a wrench.
Leakage should be checked at both ends by soap-water.
Reel of wire: Open the right-side cover of the machine. The reel holder is placed in a room
separated from the electric parts and is mounted to the left side wall. Push the reel of wire onto
the holder. Make free the end of the wire and cut it smoothly.
The reel's braking can be adjusted by the bolt located on the middle of the holder, after
removing the nut which fixes the reel.
Wire feed mechanism: The wire feed mechanism which is mounted onto the central torch
connector block serves for the reliable feed of the welding wire. The shaft
of the feeder motor is equipped with a drive (or feeding) roll, the groove of
which aligns the wire.
The wire is pressed against the feeding roll by a free running bearing roll
pressed down by the pressure arm. The pressure on the feeding roll can be
adjusted by a screw. The wire is guided by a guiding spiral.
The feeding roll, marked at its outer surface has two grooves. In case of
changing the wire, remove shaft nut and turn the feeding roll.
Unlock the pressure arm and align the wire into the groove of the roll
putting a short part of the wire into the central adaptor. Finally, put the
cover back, to protect the reel of wire and the feeder unit against
contamination.
Connecting cables: Connect the torch to the standard central adaptor and the earth clamp to the work piece or bench.
Every gas shielded torch can be used, of which the load current reaches the maximal welding current of the machine and it
has a plug that conforms with the EU standards.
The mains (input) cable and the fan with its safety grid are located at the machine's back.
The machine is controlled by an electronic unit which provides the feeder
motor's DC voltage, switches the contactor and gas valve on/off and controls the
welding process.
Q1: Main and voltage setting switch.
P1: Wire feed speed potentiometer.
H1: 'power on' sign.
H2: 'overheat error' sign.
F1: Fuse, 1A.
Welding voltage can be set by the range selector switch. After switching the
equipment on and operating the torch button, the feeder feeds the wire into the
torch cable. As the wire appears at the end of the torch, release the button. For
smooth wire feed, keep torch cable as straight as possible during this operation.
In case of slippage of the wire, increase drive roll pressure by the set screw.
A thermo-switch wound onto the main transformer prevents the machine from
overheating, in this case the welding voltage and wire feed are switched off. After the built-in fan cools down the equipment
(through the vent-holes by air flow), the welding can be continued.
Open the gas bottle's valve. Set gas flow between approx. 8-12 l/min (depending on the welding current).
The data of following table registered during the adjustment of the machine.
