INSTALLATION (Part 2)
16. Install LH bank camshaft adjusters and timing chain as an assembly. Finger tighten bolts.
17. Ensure colored or painted chain links aligned with timing marks on each camshaft adjuster and
chain guide.
18. Install LH bank timing chain tensioner and tensioner blade.
19. Install RH bank camshaft adjusters and timing chain as an assembly. Finger tighten bolts.
20. Ensure colored or painted chain links aligned with timing marks on each camshaft adjuster and
chain guide.
21. Install RH bank timing chain tensioner and tensioner blade.
22. Remove pin to release timing chain tensioner plunger.
23. Install timing chain pre-tensioning tool to LH bank inlet camshaft adjuster.
24. Apply a pre-tensioning torque of 35 Nm.
25. Tighten LH bank exhaust camshaft adjuster bolts. Tightening torque: 32 Nm.
26. Tighten LH bank inlet camshaft adjuster bolts. Tightening torque: 32 Nm.
27. Remove timing chain pre-tensioning tool
28. Install timing chain pre-tensioning tool to RH bank exhaust camshaft adjuster
29. Apply a pre-tensioning torque of 35 Nm.
30. Tighten RH bank inlet camshaft adjuster bolts. Tightening torque: 32 Nm.
31. Tighten RH bank exhaust camshaft adjuster bolts. Tightening torque: 32 Nm.
32. Remove timing chain pre-tensioning tool.
33. Remove camshaft alignment tools.
34. Remove crankshaft timing pin.
35. Fit flywheel locking tool.
36. Temporarily fit crankshaft pulley bolt with M16 washer. Tightening torque: 50 Nm.
37. Remove flywheel locking tool.
38. Turn crankshaft two turns clockwise.
39. Fit flywheel/drive plate locking tool.
40. Remove crankshaft pulley bolt.
41. Remove flywheel/drive plate locking tool.
42. Turn crankshaft in direction of engine rotation until crankshaft timing pin can be installed.
43. Ensure camshaft alignment tools can be fitted. If not, repeat timing chain installation.
44. Remove camshaft alignment tools.
45. Remove crankshaft timing pin.
46. There are two types of crankshaft pulley bolt:
-
Bolt classification - 10.9 (RR thread).
-
Bolt classification - 12.9 (LH thread).
47. Tighten crankshaft pulley bolt. Use new bolt. Tightening torque: 200 Nm + 270°.
