4. Important information about this smoke detector
Caution! This smoke detector is intended for use in individual residences. That is,
it should be used in a single family home or a single-family apartment. It should
not be used in lobbies, hallways, basements or another house in apartment
buildings. Unless there are already working detectors in each family residence.
Smoke detectors that are installed in common areas outside the individual resi-
dences, such as on porches or in hallways, may not provide any early warning to
the residents. In apartment blocks, each family residence should install their own
smoke detectors.
This smoke detector is not suitable for use in non-residential buildings. Ware-
houses, industrial or commercial buildings and non-residential buildings with
specific purposes require special fire detection and alarm systems. This detector
alone is not a suitable substitute for a complete fire detection system in places
where many people live or work, such as hotels or motels. The same applies to
dormitories, hospitals, nursing homes or group accommodations of all kinds,
even if they were once single-family houses. Please refer to NFPA 101, the safety
code for life safety and NFPA71, 72A, 72B, 72C, 72D and 72E for smoke detector
requirements for fire protection in buildings that are not defined as "households".
The batteries are inserted the wrong way round. Please ensure that you insert
them correctly before initial use.
5. Positioning the smoke detector
Smoke detectors must be installed in accordance with the applicable standard
DIN 14676 For complete coverage in residences, smoke detectors must be instal-
led in all the rooms, halls, storage areas, basements and attics in every residential
unit of a family. The minimum coverage is one detector on each floor and one in
each bedroom. The minimum coverage is one detector in each floor and one in
each bedroom.
Here are some useful tips for you:
1.
Install a smoke detector in the corridor outside each separate bedroom.
2.
Two detectors are required in apartments with two bedrooms.
