Setting up and connection
Remove the unit and all accessories from the packaging. Be sure to
preserve all packaging components for transport, which may possibly
be necessary later.
Remove the paperboard cut-out from the cabinet and the protective
transport components from the tone arm
— Install the turntable with the drive beit in place on the rim, but without
the turntable pad, on the drive shaft.
— Rotate the turntable until the motor drive shaft becomes visible
through the aperture on the left-hand side.
— Place the drive belt over the motor drive shaft (fig. 1), and rotate the
turntable through several revolutions. It must thereby be ensured
that the drive belt is correctly positioned over the drive pulley.
— Place the turntable mat on the turntable.
Connection to the power mains
— The turntable unit must be connected to a mains power outlet (AC
only) for a supply voltage of 230 V at 50 or 60 Hz, or for 115 Vat 50 or
60 Hz, as indicated on the type plate.
— For this purpose, the appliance coupler on the power cord included
with the unit is inserted into the receptacle 15 on the rear panel of the
unit.
Connection to amplifier or receiver
— Connect the audio cables to the phono-magnetic inputs of the
amplifier or receiver (black or red RCA-type plug= right channel,
white RCA-type plug=left channel)
— Connect earth wire 13 to the earth connector of your amplifier.
Fitting the cartridge
If your turntable is not already fitted with a cartridge installed by your
dealer, and you wish to fit a cartridge of your choice, please observe
the following:
— The tonearm is suitable for all /" cartridges with a weight of 3 to
10g.
— Remove head shell 9 from the accessory pack.
— Loosely fasten the cartridge to the head shell using the mounting
installation kit supplied with your cartridge.
— Fit the connection leads to the connection pins on the cartridge

0 white L ft-hand channel
blue GL = left-hand channel, ground
— Fit head shell onto tonearm and fasten using nut 8.
— Remove the overhang adjustment gauge from the accessory pack
and place it on the tonearm bearing and platter spindle.
— Adjust the cartridge parallel to the head shell so that the stylus is
positioned exactly on the line at a distance of 221 mm.
— Tighten the cartridge screw connection.
Balancing the tonearm
Contact and anti-skating force adjustment
1. Switch off anti-skating device by turning adjustment knob 7 fully
anticlockwise (Fig. 3).
2. Set stylus contact force 4 to 0.
3. Remove tonearm counterbalance 3 from the accessory pack and
push onto the tonearm so that the visible bronze spring slides
beneath the flat section of the tonearm tube (Fig. 4).
After about 15 mm you will notice resistance. At this point, slighly
turn the knurled knob.
Move the lift lever to the X position.
. Move the tonearm into the area between platter edge and tonearm
rest. Tonearm will be lowered after a few seconds.
6. Turn the knurled knob to move the tonearm counterbalance 3
forwards or backwards until the tonearm assumes a horizontal
position.
. Return the tonearm to its rest and engage the arm lock.
. Turn scale 4 to select the contact force required for the pick-up
system fitted. You will find the relevant contact force in the specifi-
cations supplied with your cartridge.

Adjust the anti-skating device 7 to the value specified in the following
table:

Dust cover
Fit the dust cover 1 into the hinges 2. In this position, the dust cover can
be removed at any time.
Record stabiliser
The Golden 1 is provided with a record stabiliser to eliminate any
resonance between the platter and record
— Fit the stabiliser 10 onto the platter spindle after laying the record on
the platter.
— Slightly press the contact area of the stabiliser onto the record with
one hand and turn the knob clockwise with the other hand until the
stabiliser exercises a slight clamping force on the spindle (Fig. 5).
— After playing the record, release the stabiliser by turning the knob
anticlockwise.
