WARNING: Perform belt maintenanceoutdoors as
some gas may possibly leakfrom the carburetor e ven
though you placeda sheetof plasticunderneaththe
gas cap to prevent t he gascap from leaking.
Adjusting The Auger Cable
Periodicadjustment t o the augercontrol cablemay be requireddue
to normalstretchand wearon the belt.Adjustmentis neededif the
augersseemto hesitatewhile turning,butthe engine maintainsspeed,
or continueturningwith the augercontroldisengaged.
1. Loosenthe rear hex bolton the cableadjustmentbracket. See
Figure12.
2. Slide thecable adjustment b racketbackwards taking out theslack
in the auger cable.
3. Retightenthe rear hexbolt
4. Start engineand verifyaugercontrolengagesand disengages
properly.
NOTE:If augercontinuesto rotatewith the controldisengaged, s hut
off engineand readjust.
Auger Belt
1. Loosenthe rearscrewon the auger cableadjustmentbracketusing
a 3/8' wrenchand slidethe bracketall theway forwardto provide
maximum slack in the auger cable. See Figure12.
2. Removethe belt coverscrewusinga 5/16 socketwith extension
and slightlyraise beltcover. You mustalso unclipthe plastictab
on theotherside to raisethis up. Donot attemptto removethe belt
cover fromthe unit at this time. See Figure13.
3. Loosenthe bottomauger housingmountingscrewon each side
one(l) fullturn usinga 1/2" socket. See Figure12.
4. Usingthe samesocketwrench,removethe topauger housing
mountingscrewson eachside.
NOTE: The topauger housingscrewon the left side alsosecuresthe
auger cablebracketand cableroller. Payattentionto its locationand
howit is positionedfor reference during reassembly.
5. Pushdownon the unit'shandle,this willallowthe beltcover
to be easilyremovedand willgive accessfor the followingbelt
maintenance procedures.
6. After removingthe belt cover,slip thefront augerbelt off of the
engine pulleyby pushingit forwardand rollingin off of the pulley.
7. Pushdownon the unit'shandlefurther openingthis area and
providingbetteraccess to the augerpulley. Youmay wish to place
a woodblock underthe auger housingto hold the unitopen.See
Figure14
8. Pushthe augerbelt idler pulleyin releasingthe augerbrake,which
isthe tab that holdsthe beltontothe augerpulley.Removethe belt.
9. Replacewith newbelt after replacingthe drivebelt.
NOTE: If not replacingdrivebelt, thenproceedto Step5 in the Drive
Beltsection.
