Health risk
Acrylamide is mainly produced by heating starchy foods (e.g., potatoes, chips, bread,
cereal products, biscuits, spiced pasta, etc.) at very high temperatures for a long time.
Tips for use in the preparation of low acrylamide foods:
- Use short cooking times.
- Cook food until its surface is brown, do not allow it to burn or get dark brown colours.
- Larger food portions contain more acrylamide.
- Egg or egg yolk reduces the formation of acrylamide.
- As a general rule, do not exceed 200 oC (upper and lower heating elements) or 190
oC for pastries and biscuits.
- When cooking potatoes, try to spread them evenly in a single layer on the tray.
General using tips:
- Use the appliance only for cooking food and nothing else.
- Disconnect the appliance from the mains if it is not working properly and before
