Remove LaserLine from the transport box: When LaserLine is to be used together with the Ot-
tobock Stand (art. no. 743X30), attach it to the holding device of the stand by tightening the
ratchet screw located at the underside of the apparatus. Make sure, that the guide pins at the
underside are placed in the long-hole as well. These pins ensure that when the apparatus requires
to be moved to the right or left, the direction of projection is maintained. Move the apparatus to
a medial position of the long-hole.
Place the LaserLine in front of the object to be measured ensuring that the direction of projection
is vertically arranged in relation to the object plane. Level the apparatus using the two operating
elements – lock button (5) and adjustment screw (4), so that the air bubbles are centered in the
water levels each.
Before turning the lasers on, please observe the following safety instructions.
5 Safety Instructions
Operation of laser apparatuses requires special precautionary measures.
Laser radiation can be dangerous to individuals, especially to their eyes. The following
instructions have been based on the regulations for Laser Class 2. LaserLine has been
classified according to Laser Class 2. In the case of apparatuses of class 2, the eyes are
protected by the optico-facial winking reflex when for a short time they accidentally come
to look into the laser radiation.
The strong fanning of the laser beam as well as the reduction of light intensity with increasing
working distance ensure, that LaserLine, when properly used, can be considered in general to
be completely harmless.
According to the Accident Prevention Regulations VBG 93 "Laser Radiation" the maximally ad-
missible radiation has been determined. From the following minimum distances radiation to the
eyes is harmless for respective radiation durations:
• in the case of radiation time of 100 sec. from 15 cm
• in the case of radiation time of 1000 sec. from 45 cm
The above indications apply to the radiation with one laser beam.
Both laser beams must form a congruent line only for adjustment, because power intensity doubles.
5.1 Safety Recommendations
Make sure, that the laser beams do not meet the eyes of the patients or other persons being present.
• Avoid unintentional switching-on of the apparatus.
• The laser light comes out of the openings A and B (fig. 1).

This laser apparatus of class 2 may be used without further protective
measures, if it is ensured that the eyes look neither intentionally into the
laser radiation for a time exceeding 0,25s nor do they look repeatedly into
the laser radiation and/or directly reflecting laser radiation, respectively.
If the optico-facial winking reflex is suppressed or delayed (for example due
to medical treatment or illness), the laser apparatus should not be used.
