OPERATION
Avoid running the saw at low speeds for extended periods
of time. Running at low speeds under constant usage may
cause your saw to become overheated. If this occurs, cool
your saw by running it without a load and at full speed.
INSTALLING/REMOVING BLADES
See Figure 3, page 12.
The tool-free blade clamp does not require the use of a blade
wrench when installing or removing the blade.
NOTE: The jig saw is designed to use T-shank blades only.
To install blades:
„ Remove the battery pack.
„ Rotate the blade clamp lever through its full travel range
and release. The blade clamp will remain open to accept
the blade.
„ Insert the saw blade as far as possible into the slot in the
saw bar. Some resistance may be felt in doing this. The
blade clamp will click and rotate slightly to automatically
lock the blade in place.
„ Check to make sure the back of the saw blade is centered
in the groove of the blade-support roller.
„ Make sure the blade is securely in place.
„ Reinstall the battery pack.
NOTE: Check that the blade is inserted fully and completely
secured. Blade will lock into position when correctly installed.
Do not use the tool if the blade is not installed correctly.
To remove blades:
„ Remove the battery pack.
„ Allow blade to cool.
„ Rotate the blade clamp lever away from the orbital ad-
justment knob and hold in place.
„ Remove the saw blade.
BLOWER/VACUUM MODE
See Figures 4 - 6, page 12.
The jig saw is equipped with a convenient switch for man-
aging dust while cutting. First setting blows air to clean
line-of-sight while cutting. Second setting turns off air to
the line-of-sight air vent to allow the dust to be vacuumed
up through the rear dust port.
The saw can be operated in either blower mode to clear dust
from cutting area or vacuum mode to collect dust.
To operate in dust blower mode:
„ Remove the battery pack.
„ Push blower/vacuum switch to blower position. Dust will
be blown from line of cut.
„ Reinstall the battery pack.
To operate in vacuum mode:
„ Remove the battery pack.
„ Push blower/vacuum switch to vacuum position.
„ Slide the dust collection vacuum attachment into the
curved area at the rear of the base.
„ Connect a vacuum hose to the attachment.
„ Reinstall the battery pack.
„ Turn on vacuum.
„ Begin cutting.
NOTE: The dust collection vacuum attachment can be
used with the base in beveling position. See Angle Cutting
(Bevel Cutting).
LED LIGHT
See Figure 7, page 12.
The LED light, is located on the front of the tool and illumi-
nates when the switch is moved to the ON position to give
you a clear view of the cut line on your work surface.
If the tool is not in use, the time-out feature will cause the
light to shut off after 10 seconds.
The LED light illuminates only when there is a charged battery
pack in the tool.
GENERAL CUTTING
See Figure 7, page 12.
Rest the front of the saw base on the workpiece and align
cutting edge of the blade with the marked line on the
workpiece. Start the saw and move it forward on the work
surface. Apply downward pressure to keep the saw steady
and only enough forward pressure to keep the blade cutting.
