It is advisable to minimise the length of the RS-485 wiring from the measurement converter to the INGECON unit
equipped with the modem. In addition, in a bus topology, the master should remain at the centre of the bus for its
signal to arrive as strongly as possible to the highest number of slaves.
2.1.1. Local communication
In a group of interconnected inverters, the communication of a local P with the units must be through a specific
connector of the modem itself (see "3.2.1. AAX0001" for further information).
In the case of simultaneous communication, remote communication has priority with respect
to communication with the PC, as the modem incorporates a relay which disconnects local
communication.
2.1.2. Remote communication
We recommend you ensure that the local communication is functioning correctly before connecting
the installation of the remote communications.
GPRS communication is made via the communications networks of the mobile phone operators. Access to these
networks is a service which must be contracted by the customer. In addition, it must be ensured that there is
network coverage at the installation.
The M2M (Machine-2-Machine) rates are suitable for devices that, like the modems in the INGECON units, are
permanently connected to the network but have very low data traffic. Apart from these tariffs, each operator
invoices the GPRS communication according to its own criteria; there are those that bill by volume of data,
connection time, or even both. For the above reason and to avoid unpleasant surprises, we advise you to monitor
the consumption for the first days after the installation of a communication of this type.
The Ingeteam GPRS devices are factory configured for the main mobile phone operators in Spain, France and Italy.
This configuration means that they operate without any changes required by the user. See "Configuration of the
modem in the INGECON SUN Manager" for further information.
2.1.3. Identifying inverters
It is absolutely essential to identify each and every one of the inverters of the RS-485 bus univocally.
To establish the node number of an inverter, consult the installation manual of the corresponding
unit.
2.1.4. Certification
Certification is the process used to compare the transmission performance of a system of wiring installed with a
certain standard using a procedure defined by the standard to measure this performance.
The certification of a wiring system attests to the quality of the components and the installation. Ingeteam
establishes the certification of the data wiring itself as necessary.
