Connecting Ultraheat
DANGER
Electric shock from the mains voltage
Follow the safety instructions when working
with mains voltage.
The electrical 230 V connection must always be carried
out by an electrician. The instructions shown here are
not intended as instructions for non-experts to make
the electrical connection but are additional information
for an expert who is employed to do the work.
The applicable standards for electrical installations in
vehicles must be observed (e.g. in accordance with
VDE 0100, part 721 or IEC 60364-7-721 in Germany).
An insulating device for providing all-pole insulation
from the mains with contact clearance of at least
3.5 mm must be provided by the customer for carrying
out maintenance and repair work.
The power supply for Ultraheat must be protected with
a fuse of at least 10 A, better 16 A.
For connection to the 230 V~ on-board power supply,
use the 150 cm long 3-wire mains cable, which is con-
nected to the control unit. Use only the original mains
cable.
Install the mains cable so that it cannot chafe. Secure
the cable with clamps. Use lead-through bushing or
edge protection profiles at sharp edges such as metal
panel lead-throughs.
NOTICE
Damage to the mains cable from overheat-
ing.
Do not install on or fix the mains cable to heat-
ers, exhaust ducts, fans or warm air ducts.
Fix the cable adequately at a suitable location
(minimum gap: 5 cm).
The mains cable must not be secured to or touch the
exhaust duct of the heater, the housing or the warm air
ducts (minimum gap: 5 cm).

If necessary, the mains cable can be fed out of the back
(Fig. 21-3) or side (Fig. 21-2) of the control unit.
Screw on the cover of the control unit with a cross-
head screw (Fig. 21-1).
Install the cable in the control unit accordingly.
Screw the cover of the control unit closed. The cover
provides strain relief for the cable.
Carry out electrical installation in accordance with
the above-mentioned specifications and connect the
mains cable. Take care when connecting and pay
attention to the cable colours.
Restore electrical safety in the vehicle (close distribu-
tion boxes / cable ducts, replace covers)
Conduct electrical checks of the installation (earth
conductor PE, insulation, residual current cir-
cuit-breaker (RCCB)).
