Use according to intended purpose
Guide rails F are aluminium extruded profiles with inserted non-slip profiles and a rubber splinter guard. The
guide rails are only intended for use with Mafell machines.
The machine used must be equipped with a groove that must be placed onto the guide web of the guide rail. The
base plate of the machine slides along the guide rail. This protects the surface of the workpiece from damage.
The red rubber lip of the guide rail serves as tracing edge for cuts and as splinter guard.
For machine types with a groove:
The groove is suitable for vertical cuts and bevel cuts.
For machine types with two grooves:
- Outer guide groove for bevel cuts
- Inner guide groove for vertical cuts 0° only
Note! If bevel cuts are performed, damage to the guide rail caused by cuts
The guide rails can be extended by means of a connecting piece F-VS (optional accessory), which aligns the
parts to be connected in longitudinal direction. The guide rails resting on the workpiece in a non-slip manner
allow straight and inclined cuts of variable cut lengths to be carried out accurately and neatly.

Working with the guide rail
4.1 Sawing into the splinter guard
1.
Place the entire length of the guide rail F onto a level support (chipboard or similar) and fasten it with lever
clamps.
2.
Place the machine that is being worked with onto the guide rail.
3.
Set the cutting depth of the machine used to approx. 3 mm and the angle scale to 0°.
4.
Turn on the machine and slide it evenly in cutting direction across the entire length of the guide rail.
5.
Turn off the machine.
The machined edge of the splinter guard corresponds exactly to the left cutting edge of the saw blade. The
resulting cut edge on the splinter guard serves as tracing edge for straight cuts and bevel cuts.
Important information when sawing into the splinter guard with the plunge-cut saw
MT55:
Adjust the two adjusting wheels on the plunge-cut saw so that the machine runs without
play on the guide of the rail. Lower the machine to a cutting depth of 3 mm. Turn on the
machine to saw into the splinter guard.
Note!
Damage to the new splinter guard due to blunt saw blade
The mounted new splinter guard must be cut to size to fit the saw before the first cut.
Use a sharp saw blade to prevent the splinter guard from tearing out.
