Checkelectrode gap with wire feeler gauge and set gap
at 0.028-0.031 inches (0.70-0.80 ram), if necessary.

6£ When reinstaliing originat spark plug, tighten 1/8-I/4
turn after the spark piug seats to compress the washer.
6B. When instaiiing new spark piug, tighten 1/2 turn after
the spark piug seats to compress the washer.

Attach the spark piug cap to the spark piug.

Carburetor
If you think your carburetor needs adjusting, see your
nearest Searsservice center. Engine performance may be
affected at altitudes above 5000 feet. For operation at higller
elevations, contact your nearest Sears servbe center.
Spark Attester Service
Your engine is not factory=equippedwith a spark arrester. In
some areas, it is illegal to operate an engine without a spark
arrester. Checkiocai iaws and regulations. A spark arrester is
avaiiabie from your nearest Searsservice center, if you need
to order a spark arrester, pleasecall 1-800-4-NIY-NO_IE
(469o4663).
The spark arrester must be serviced every 100 hours to keep
it functioning as designed.
If the engine has been running, the muffler wiii be very hot.
Atlow the muffler to cool before servicing the spark arrester.

Removethe three 6 mm bolts (A) from the muffler
protector (B), and remove the muffler protector.

Removethe two special screws (C) from the spark
arrester, and remove the spark arrester (#) from
muffler (E).
3.
Use a brush to remove carbon deposits from the spark
arrester screen. Be careful not to damage the screen.
iMPORTANT: Repiacespark arrester if it has breaks or hobs.
4.
Instaii clean (or new) spark arrester in reverse order of
removal.
