5. OPERATION AND FUNCTIONS
5.1 ADJUSTING THE MACHINE
5.1.1 DEPTH ADJUSTMENT
See Figure 5
- Disconnect the rear plug from the power supply to perform
this operation in complete safety and make it impossible for
the cutter to start moving.
- Secure the two adjustment rods (R) into side 1 of the clamp.
- Move the clamps with the adjustment rods (R) towards the
tracer (2) and cutter (1) so that the adjustment rods rest on
the tracer and cutter.
- Turn the brush with your hand so the cutter turns. If the
cutter rubs slightly against the adjustment rod, the cutting
depth on the machine is properly adjusted.
- If the cutter turns freely when you do this (without rubbing
against the adjustment rod), then the machine will not cut
deep enough. If the cutter is prevented from turning by the
adjustment rod, then the machine will cut too deeply.
- If either of the latter two situations arise, proceed as fo-
llows:
- Release the stud bolt (T1) locking the tracer (2) in place and
rotate the depth adjustment tool (9).
- Move the tracer forwards or backwards until the cutter can
turn and rubs slightly against the adjustment rod (R). Then
tighten the screw (T1) on the tracer to finish adjusting the
machine cutting depth.
5.1.2 LATERAL ADJUSTMENT
See Figure 6
- Lateral adjustment is fixed and calibrated during factory
assembly. It will therefore not need to be adjusted. You can
check that this calibration has been performed correctly as
follows:
- Disconnect the rear plug from the power supply to perform
this operation in complete safety and make it impossible for
the cutter to start moving.
- Secure the two adjustment rods (R) into side 3 of the
clamp.
- Move the clamps towards the tracer (2) and cutter (1) so
that the adjustment rods (R) rest on the sides of tracer and
cutter.
- Turn the brush with your hand so the cutter turns. If the cu-
tter rubs very slightly against the adjustment rod, the lateral
position of the cutter is correct.
- If the cutter turns freely when you do this or rubs too rou-
ghly against the adjustment rod, then the lateral position of
the cutter is incorrect.

KEY CUTTING MACHINE
5.2 KEY COPYING
5.2.1 Copying a mortice key
See Figure 7
- Secure the keys in side 1 of the clamps.
- There are two ways to position the keys laterally depending
on whether the key is single- or double-bladed:
· If the key is double-bladed, push the key into the clamp
until the blade rests against the inside of the clamp.
· If the key is single-bladed, rest the key blade against the
side of the tracer and cutter.
- It is important to secure the keys in the clamps so that their
blades are facing the same direction.
- Turn the machine on and, while holding the carriage
assembly by the motion control lever (8), move the keys
towards the cutter (1) and tracer (2).
- Key teeth can be rounded by rotating the clamp carriage
assembly with the rotation lever (7).
- To enable clamp carriage assembly rotation, pull the hand-
le (6) outwards.
- Push the handle (6) back inwards to disable clamp carriage
assembly rotation, previously setting clamp carriage assem-
bly rotation to an intermediate position.
- We recommend cutting keys by moving the rotation lever
(7) from top to bottom.
- We recommend working slowly, without forcing the cutter.
- If the duplication process produced any burrs on the copy,
these can be removed using the brush that is provided with
the machine for this purpose.
5.2.2 Copying a forward-cut key
See Figure 8
- Secure the keys in side 2 of the clamps, being careful to
ensure that the key blade rests against the front stop of the
clamp.
- Turn the machine on and, while holding the carriage
assembly by the motion control lever (8), move the keys
towards the cutter (1) and tracer (2).
- Push the handle (6) back inwards to disable clamp carriage
assembly rotation, previously setting clamp carriage assem-
bly rotation to an intermediate position.
- We recommend working slowly, without forcing the cutter.
- If the duplication process produced any burrs on the copy,
these can be removed using the brush that is provided with
the machine for this purpose.
