5.3. Relief Function
Turning the knob to deflate the cell enables the caregivers to float the patient's and take away the
pressure from bony prominences.
‧ The 3 air cells in the head section are equipped with a knob.
‧ The 11 air cells in the torso section and the 6 air cells in the lower leg section cells are equipped
with a knob.
‧ The single Shoulder Support (4th) cell has no knob and cannot be deflated.
5.3.1. For complex patient needs off-loading/pressure relief:
You can off-load more than one area on the patient for longer periods, but with the following
restrictions:
‧ Select only two cells in the torso section to deflate.
‧ Select only one to two cell in the heel section to deflate.
‧ In the Prone position select three cells in the head section to deflate, or in the Supine position
select three cells in the head section to deflate.

NOTE: Deflating more than two adjacent cells may affect the support to the patient during
the normal alternating cycle.
5.4. Evacuation Handles
Rotate the knob in a counterclockwise direction
to the 12 o'clock position to deflate the cell.

NOTE: When an emergency occurs, the designated
handles can be used for caregivers to quickly and
safely evacuate the patient from the bed in the facility.
