OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
6. Using the Auger (fig. 6a, 6b, 6c)
WARNING
• Use your auger only for drilling holes in soil (with
earth auger bit installed).
• Maintain a firm grip on the handles with both
hands while using the auger. Keep the auger bit
away from your body and below waist level.
• Always stand with the handles close to waist
during operation (fig. 6a).
• Always keep both hands on the handles.
Improper operation may result in serious injury.
• Always hold the right handle (C) with your right
hand and the left handle (D) with your left hand
(fig. 6a). Improper hand positions may result in
serious injury (fig. 6b).
• Avoid digging in material that you suspect
contains hidden nails or other things that may
cause the auger bit to bind or break.
• Stay alert to the torque reaction force of the
machine. Always keep the operating position that
you can withstand the torque reaction force.
• Avoid improper positioning. Do not stand too
far from the machine (fig. 6c). Proper reaction
and control may not be achieved in the event of
kickback.
• Be extremely cautious when working on slopes
or uneven ground.
• When leaving the machine, such as during a
break, do not leave the machine stabbed in
the ground or lean it against a wall. Store the
machine in a stable position.
NOTICE: Before operating, check that there is
no foreign matter (sand, dirt, etc.) stuck in the
openings or moving parts.
