Working instructions (fig. III)
Selecting the jointing biscuits
The size of the biscuits depends on the material
thickness. For a solid joint, always use the largest
possible biscuit. For material thickness greater than
25 mm, use two biscuits one above the other.

Setting the machine to the plate thick-
ness
To be able to cut the groove for the jointing biscuit
centrally, the biscuit joiner cutter must be set to match
the plate thickness. To do so, undo the right clamp-
ing lever, set the pivoting fence using the scale to
the corresponding plate thickness and retighten the
1
clamping lever.
The scale values apply only with the
attachment plate fitted.
If the tightened clamping lever gets in the
way when working, then it can be moved
to another position by pulling out without
the clamp coming loose.
Three plate thicknesses can be pre-set at the revolver
stop. Plate thickness of 16, 19 and 25 mm are set in
2
the factory.
Marking groove separations
Position the plates to be jointed against each other
with the edges flush, secure with screw clamps and
mark the middle of the grooves. The separation
between the grooves should be 10–15 cm. Narrow
workpieces need not be marked.
The machine can be positioned differently depen-
dent on the width of the plates.
Wide plates: Position the machine with the middle
marker of the base plate at the drawn marking.
Narrow plates: Position the machine using the
outer edge of the base plate.
Very narrow plates: Position the machine using
the outer marking of the base plate.
This setting can also be used, if the joint
is to be close to the edge.

Cutting grooves
Position the machine as described previously.
Switch on the machine.
Push the machine forwards at the motor part and
slowly plunge cut into the material using the cutter
until the stop is reached. When doing so, hold
the machine with both hands. Slightly release the
pressure; the motor part is retracted by spring
force into the start position.
Switch the machine off again.
Clamping workpieces
Paste the grooves with glue.
Insert biscuits.
Assemble the workpieces and clamp using suit-
able clamping tools (G-clamps, fastening straps,
etc.).
The moisture of the glue causes the
biscuits to swell resulting in increased
joint strength.
Different joint types
The cutting of grooves for a wide range of joint types
is possible thanks to the height-adjustable pivoting
fence. A number joint types are listed below and
the respective use of the biscuit joiner cutter shown
pictorially.
Corner joint
Centre panel joint
Mitre joint
Longitudinal and transverse joint
Frame joint
Simplex joint (joining element)
Duplex joint (hinge)
Wood patch (rectification)
Cutting grooves in thin plates
(Fig. VII)
A thin piece of wood must be placed under the base
plate when cutting thin plates (material thickness less
than 16 mm) so that the groove is not cut too close
to the surface of the plates.
