Commissioning
These pumps must not be used in zone 0!
Before switching on check the following points:
▪ Check that the installation has been performed correctly and according to the locally appli-
cable regulations:
– Pump connected to electrical ground?
– Has the routing of the power supply cable been checked?
– Has the electrical connection been carried out in line with the regulations?
– Are mechanical components correctly attached?
▪ Check the level control device:
– Can float switches move freely?
– Have switching levels been checked (pump on, pump off, minimum water level)?
– Has additional dry-running protection been installed?
▪ Check operating conditions:
– Has the min./max. temperature of the fluid been checked?
– Has the maximum immersion depth been checked?
– Has the operating mode depending on the minimum water level been defined?
– Is the maximum switching frequency being adhered to?
▪ Check installation site/operating space:
– Is the pipe system on the pressure side free of deposits?
– Has the inlet or pump sump been cleaned and is free of deposits?
– Are all gate valves open?
– Has the minimum water level been defined and monitored?
The hydraulics housing must be completely filled with fluid and there must be no air cush-
ions in the hydraulics. NOTICE! If there is a danger of air cushions in the system, provide
suitable venting devices!
During the start-up procedure, the rated current is temporarily exceeded. During operation,
the rated current must not be exceeded again. CAUTION! If the pump does not start, im-
mediately switch off the pump. First repair the fault before re-activating the pump!
Position pumps in portable installation on a firm foundation. Before switching on pumps
which have fallen over, make sure to re-position them. In the case of problematic surfaces,
tightly screw the pump.
Pumps with bare cable end
The pump must be switched on and off via a separate operating point (on/off switch,
switchgear) provided by the customer.
Pump with attached plug
▪ Three-phase current version: After inserting the plug in the socket, the pump is ready for
operation. The pump is switched on and off via the ON/OFF switch.
Pump with attached float switch and plug
▪ Three-phase current version: After inserting the plug in the socket, the pump is ready for
operation. The control of the pump takes place via two switches on the plug:
– HAND/AUTO: Determining whether the pump is switched on and off directly (HAND) or
depending on the fluid level (AUTO).
– ON/OFF: Switch pump on and off.
DANGER
Risk of explosion due to overpressure in the hydraulics!
If the gate valves on the suction and pressure sides are closed during operation, the fluid
in the hydraulics housing is heated up by the pumping movement. This heating creates a
pressure of several bars in the hydraulics. The pressure can result in the pump exploding!
Make sure that all gate valves are open during operation. Open closed gate valves imme-
diately!
