4.2 Performing the inhalation
WARNING: Danger to health if connection tubings
are mixed up
Check carefully to ensure that the other end of the con-
nection tubing connected to the compressor is attached
to the nebuliser.
If multiple tubing systems are used at the same time for
different applications (e.g., infusion and inhalation), there
is a risk that the wrong tubing systems may be used by
mistake, which in extreme cases may result in death.
CAUTION: Inadequate medication nebulising due to
incorrect assembly
Before the patient starts inhaling, ensure that all parts are
firmly connected to each other. Make sure that the con-
nection tubing is fitted securely on the air outlet on the
INQUA
CAUTION: Inadequate delivery of medication
because nebuliser held incorrectly
Always hold the nebuliser upright during inhalation.
Inhalation for the lower airways
Inhalation with the mouthpiece is the most effective form of inha-
lation for the lower airways since it results in minimum medica-
tion loss on the way to the lung. The child mask is only
recommended for children if they are unable to inhale using the
mouthpiece.
When a mask is used, the patient must always breathe in
through the mouth during the session.
