BEARING PACKING INSTRUCTIONS
Read and adhere to the following instructions; failure to read obey all of the following instructions
COMPLETELY will void the warranty and can result in damage to the trailer, property damage, or
SERIOUS PERSONAL INJURY.
1. Park trailer on level surface and secure so trailer cannot move forward or backward.
2. Using trailer jack and jack stands, lift one side of trailer so tire is off the ground.
3. Remove dust cap in center of wheel hub using flathead screwdriver.
4. Straighten out cotter pin that holds castle nut and remove cotter pin.
5. Remove castle nut.
6. Remove outer bearing from hub.
7. Remove tire, wheel and hub from axle.
8. Pry out the rear grease seal and remove rear bearing.
9. Using a suitable solvent, thoroughly clean the bearings and the rest of the parts in the hub
assembly of all grease, dirt, metal shavings or any other foreign objects. The parts must be
cleaned even if they are new or appear clean.
10. Allow all pieces to dry completely.
11. Make sure that your hands and bearing packer, if used, are thoroughly clean.
12. Force fresh, clean bearing grease in the bearings using hands or bearing packer. Make sure
every slot in the bearing is completely full of grease.
13. Spread a small amount of grease inside the hub and bearing races. DO NOT try to completely
fill hub with grease.
14. Place rear bearing in hub and install new grease seal. Coat rubber lip with a small amount of
grease.
15. Replace wheel and hub on axle and install front bearing.
16. Install castle nut hand tight. Spin the wheel by hand and tighten castle nut using a wrench until
the wheel starts to drag or is harder to move. Back off castle nut about 1 castle slot and install
new cotter pin.
17. Bend legs of cotter pin out to secure and reinstall dust cap with a rubber mallet.
