1.11. Checking and lubricating the drive chain
To perform this operation, you must put the motorcycle
on the rear stand, upright on a horizontal surface and
with the gear in neutral.
q Checking the chain adjustment
WARNING: Before checking the chain adjust-
ment, contact a MV Agusta authorized centre
to verify that the value of the static setup of
the rear suspension is correct. Also make
sure that the chain is properly lubricated.
The axis of the chain lower portion must be at a distance
of 116 mm from the lower chain guard. Manually turn
the rear wheel and carry out the check at several points
along the chain. The distance between the chain and
the lower chain guard must remain almost constant as
the wheel turns. If, on the other hand, the play on the
chain varies considerably, it means that some chain
links are flattened, seized or elongated. If the distance
is greater than 116 mm, have the chain adjusted by your
local MV Agusta dealer.
