General notes regarding connection of 3 phase
asynchronous motors
If the power lines with phase sequences L2, L1 and
L3 are connected to the connection points U1, V1 and
W1 as shown below, the motor rotates anticlockwise,
viewed from the shaft end. The direction of rotation can
be changed by switching between 2 phases.
Star connection
The earthing terminal on the motor casing is intended
for potential equation, and does not replace the ground
terminal in the connection box.
Remember to connect the motor with sufficient cable to
allow the motor to be removed without disconnecting
the cable.
Start-up:
Prior to start-up, check:
•
that there are no foreign objects in the rotary valve
housing or the associated piping system
•
that the direction of rotation of the rotary valve's ro-
tor is correct (indicated by the arrow)
•
that the rubber ring in the vent screw is removed (if
present)
•
whether the rotary valve is securely fastened, in-
cluding also the pipework and any funnel
Service and maintenance:
All service, maintenance and repairs must be carried
out by skilled or instructed person.
Lubrication of the rotor bearings
The flanged bearings are lubricated with a grease gun
in the grease nipples every 1.000 operating hours, with
a good quality ball bearing grease, like SKF LGMT 2.
Be careful not to overfill the bearings.
Lubrication of the gearbox
The gearbox is filled with synthetic oil from the factory,
which do not require replacement.

Be aware of leaking gaskets.
The gear motor must be cleaned as needed, to prevent
loss of the motor's cooling.
Paddles
The rotary valve is equipped with replaceable paddles,
that run very close to the rotary valve housing and will
wear and tear over time. The lifespan of the plates will,
among other things depend on the type of material
being transported through the rotary valve. When the
paddles wear out, air will leak past the rotor. This leak-
age will make it more difficult for the material to pass
efficiently through the rotary valve, thereby reducing
capacity. When capacity has become too low, the pad-
dles must be replaced.
Always disconnect power to the rotary valve before
repair and maintenance. The main switch must be dis-
connected and locked so that the rotary valve cannot

be started by mistake. Also stop the associated blower.
When replacing paddles, bearings, etc., use only origi-
nal Kongskilde spare parts, as shown in the spare parts
list.
During service, clean the internal parts of the rotary
valve, preferably with compressed air. If moist and/or
sticky material has got into the rotary valve, additional
cleaning may be necessary.
