4 Technical Notes
The KINEGEN.smart is supplied with following factory settings:
Function
Factory
settings
4.1 Setting the load-dependent brake effect
Left turn = early triggering (lower weight load
resp. higher safety demand)
Right turn = late triggering of the brake (high-
er weight load resp. lower safety demand)
Attention!
When adjusting the brake, always make sure that suffi cient brake
effect is available.

Load-dependent
brake
How quick does
the brake work?
Heads of adjust-
ment screws are
fl ush with swing
block surface
Axis friction
How strong is the
brake?
When the adjust-
ment screw head
is fl ush with the
front of the lower
part, it is turned
once in clockwise
direction.
Setting the load-dependent brake will
defi ne the moment from which load the
brake will trigger (i.e. from which weight
took over by the prosthesis). After each
adjustment by this screw, the axis friction
must be re-adjusted as described under
pt. 4.3. Use an allen wrench SW4 for this
task. The trigger threshold of the brake
can be set by the adjustment screw,
which tightens the pressure spring.
The load-dependent brake should be
adjusted in small angular degree steps.
Extension assist
How quick does the
knee joint extend?
Adjustment screw
protrudes 1 mm
from the spring
bushing.
