L-40 / H-40 Spark Ignition Radiant Brooder
FIG. 25
C. Reading Pressures
1. Open the fuel supply valve to the heater and position
the heater's power switch to ON. The heater should
light. With the heater operating, the pressure gauge
should read the pressure specified on the dataplate.
2. Does the reading on the gauge agree with that speci-
fied on the dataplate? If so, then no further checking
or adjustment is required. Proceed to Section D.
3. If the pressure does not agree with that specified
on the dataplate, then the regulator controlling the
gas supply pressure to the heater(s) needs to be
adjusted or the gas supply piping must be verified of
proper size
for the heaters installed.
D. Completion
1. Once gas pressure has been confirmed and/or
properly set, close the fuel supply valve to the heater
and allow the heater to burn off any gas remaining in
the gas supply hose.
2. Position the ON/OFF switch to OFF.
3. L-40: Remove the gauge kit and install the 3/16 in.
allen plug, tightening securely.
H-40: H-40 remove the gauge and reconnect the gas
hose to the solenoid valve.
4. Open the fuel supply valves and position the heater's
switch to ON. Check for proper operation after the
heater lights.
Owner's Manual • L-40 / H-40
5. Once the conversion is complete, place the
supplied Conversion data label with the information
required on the side of the control box opposite of the
on/off switch.
Troubleshooting Guide
READ THIS ENTIRE SECTION BEFORE
BEGINNING TO TROUBLESHOOT PROBLEMS.
The following troubleshooting flow charts provide
systematic procedures for isolating heater problems.
The charts are intended for use by a QUALIFIED GAS
HEATER SERVICE PERSON. DO NOT SERVICE THE
HEATER UNLESS YOU HAVE BEEN PROPERLY
TRAINED.
TEST EQUIPMENT REQUIRED
The following pieces of test equipment will be required
to troubleshoot this system with minimal time and effort.
• Digital Multimeter - For measuring voltage.
• Pressure Gauge - For checking inlet pressures to the
heaters.
INITIAL PREPARATION
WARNING
Burn Hazard
■ Troubleshooting this system may require operat-
ing the heater with the burner on. Use extreme
caution when working on the heater.
■ Failure to follow this warning may result in burns
causing severe injury.
-- Inspect the heater for damage.
-- Clean the heater as necessary.
HEATER PROBLEMS
1. Heater does not light
2. Heater lights, but will not stay lit
3. Emitter not heating properly
4. Burner flame extending beyond
