Evaluating the measurement results
As mentioned in the previous chapter "Protective current measure-
ment", the measurement result depends on several parameters (see
above). As a rule, the drive potential will be a few volts. The following
minimum values must be measured in all cases of proper functioning:
1. Enamelled storage water heaters:
2. storage tank of stainless steel:
Note polarity sign! "Plus" with correct polarity (see above)
With water qualities in compliance with the German drinking water
ordinance, the measurement range for enamelled storage tanks is
roughly between 2.3 V and approximately 4 V; for storage tanks of
stainless steel between 1.9 V and approximately 3 V. These values
should be understood as non-binding orientation values!
With a reduction of electrical conductivity (measured in µS/cm), the
drive potential rises, with increasing water conductivity, the value fall.
Non-insulated large heat exchangers without enamelling usually
result in a strong rise of the drive potential exceeding the mentioned
value range when used in enamelled storage water heaters.
4.6 Resistance test of control sensors of boilers and storage tanks
The additionally provided measuring function "Widerstand 20 k
(Resistance) can be used for testing the internal resistance of control
sensors.
In order to carry out the measurement, set the CorroScout
the measuring range "Resistance 20 k
suring leads for connection to the measuring object. The values
shown in the display are in k
be measured.
Information: For evaluating the measuring results, the information
provided by the respective manufacturers must be taken into account.
