2. A warranty period of 1 year on parts and 1 year on labor means that IBM
will provide warranty service without charge for:
a. parts and labor during the first year of the warranty period.
b. parts only, on an exchange basis, in the first year of the warranty
period.
IBM will charge you for any labor provided in performance of the

Execute diagnostics:
The IBM service specialist will assist with determining if your equipment is
functioning as specified. It may be necessary to isolate the failing
xSeries/Netfinity and/or IBM component from any active production
environment in order to execute diagnostics and perform defect isolation
routines. It is the responsibility of the customer to make the IBM system
and/or IBM components available for the execution of diagnostics and the
defect isolation routines.
Check software:
The IBM service specialist will assist you to ensure that the proper BIOS,
firmware, device drivers and other supporting IBM software have been
installed and configured correctly. This may require gathering information
about the relevant software levels manually or having to run IBM approved
utilities to capture this information. If necessary, your server may need to be in
an isolated environment. It is the responsibility of the customer, with the
