2. 'COUNCIL' DIAGNOSIS
The percentage of hearing loss is determined from the tonal audiogram, and according to the 2nd formula of the Council
of Physical Therapy. A percentage of hearing loss is applied to each ear at the 500, 1000, 2000 y 4000 Hz frequencies,
according to the corresponding threshold.
A. Monoaural Hearing Loss
•
In Table 2, look for the correspondence between the hearing thresholds for each frequency and their % of hearing loss.
•
Hearing Loss (%) = Sum of the hearing losses for all four frequencies.
•
Average dB = (total thresholds) / 4.
A. Bilateral Hearing Loss
•
Bilateral Loss (%) = (7 * (loss % in the best ear) + (loss % in the worst ear)) / 8.
