Problem

Possible cause
There is no water in the water
tank.
The water tank is inserted
incorrectly.
The espresso / coffee powder is
pressed too fi rmly.
The espresso / coffee powder is
too fi nely ground.
The device is furred up.
The device is furred up.
The device is being used for the
fi rst time.
The device has previously been
descaled.
Fix
Fill the water tank.
Take out the water tank and
insert it again. Make sure that it
fi ts correctly.
Only press down the espres-
so / coffee powder lightly.
Use espresso / coffee powder
with a coarser grinding fi neness.
Descale the device (see the
"Cleaning and Care" chapter –
"Descaling").

A smell often develops when
new devices are fi rst used. The
smell should disappear once the
device has been used several
times.
Rinse out the device with clear
water.
