Some of the fruits can be covered by a natural protective layer which can increase the
time it takes to dehydrate. To avoid this it is advisable to boil food for approximately 1-
2 minutes then place it in cold water. Please make sure the food is completely dry
before beginning the dehydrating process.
The duration of dehydrating depends on the temperature and humidity of the room,
the size, thickness and ripeness of the food etc.
DEHYDRATING FRUITS
Wash the fruit.
Take out the pit and cut off the spoiled parts.
Slice it into pieces, which can be freely placed between the trays.
You can put lemon juice on to fruits to stop them discolouring.
DEHYDRATING VEGETABLES
Wash the vegetables.
Cut off any spoiled parts.
Slice into pieces, which you can be freely placed between the trays.
It is better to boil vegetables for about 1-5 minutes, then place them in cold water
and dry them.
DEHYDRATING MEDICAL PLANTS
It is recommended to dry new leafs.
Once the leaves are dry put them into paper bags or glass cans and store them in a
dark cool place.
STORAGE OF DEHYDRATED FRUITS
Containers used for storing dried products should be cleaned and dried before use.
For better storage of dried fruits, use glass containers with metal lids and place them
in a dark dry place, where the temperature should be between 5-20˚C.
