4.3 Use as a Bicycle Trailer

Your Kimba Cross can also be used as a bicycle trailer (Fig. 29). The "bicycle package" includes:
• Bicycle draw-bar incl. quick-release clamp axle
• Weber Coupling piece, type E (trailer side)
• Weber Coupling piece, type E (bicycle side)
First remove the front wheel (Fig. 30) in the reverse order as described under "Unpacking and
Setting Up".
Insert the bicycle draw-bar and push it to the rear and up.
Make sure that the attachment plate engages with the slot of the crossbrace (Fig. 31, item A).
Close the eccentric lever of the clamp axle (Fig. 31, item B).
Check the proper fit and clamping pressure of the axle!

4.3.1 Mounting the coupling to the bicycle

Coupling, type E from the Weber company for mounting to the axle of a bicycle.
Besides the coupling the delivery includes two metal locking disks for bicycle hubs with rigid axle
(large hole) or with quick-release mechanism (small hole).
- For mounting, remove the wheel nut or quick-release mechanism and position the basis
(Fig. 74, item B) on the axle as shown in the drawing.
Insert the locking disk (Fig. 74, item V) so that the joint piece (Fig. 74, item G) is approximately
horizontal.
Make sure that the teeth of the locking disk properly engage with the basis.
INfORMATION
Firmly tighten axle and coupling with the wheel nut or quick-release mechanism. Check if the
wheel is seated securely.
Position the safety cable (Fig. 74, item S) around the wheel axle and hang in as shown in the
drawing.
Finally insert the rubber stopple (Fig. 74, item A).
If the hub is equipped with a quick-release mechanism please observe the following:
INfORMATION
First tighten the adjustment nut of the quick-release mechanism until the lever of the quick-release
mechanism can be closed firmly and the wheel is seated securely.
Make sure that the adjustment nut of the quick-release mechanism is screwed onto the clamp
axle with a minimum of five turns and that the thread is undamaged! Follow the instructions given
in the operation manual for your bicycle and for the quick-release mechanism.

4.3.2 Connecting the trailer to the bicycle

The instructions for connecting the trailer to the bicycle are written on a sticker which is attached
to each draw-bar. The trailer draw-bar will additionally be secured to the bicycle frame with a
safety strap (Fig. 75).
