Safety
Intended use
Silamat S6 is a universal mixer for amalgam, glass
ionomer cements and other predosed dental materials in
capsules and syringes.
The apparatus has been developed solely for use in den-
tistry. Liability cannot be accepted for damage resulting
from misuse or failure to observe the Operating Instruc-
tions. The user is responsible for testing the Silamat S6
for its use and suitability for the intended purposes. The
intended use also includes the observation of the notes
and regulations in these Operating Instructions.
The Silamat S6 has been shipped from the manufacturer
in a safe and technically sound condition. The apparatus
is built according to IEC 61010-1 (EN 61010-1) and EMV
regulations. It complies with the relevant EU regulations
and was certified to be technically safe by TÜV Product
Service as internationally accredited testing body.
Observe Operating Instructions
Do not use the appliance near flammable or
combustible substances.
Double insulation (Apparatus complies with
safety class II)
Switch the apparatus into stand-by mode.
Assumption of impaired safety
If it has to be assumed that safe operation is no longer
possible, the power must be disconnected to avoid acci-
dental operation. This may be the case, for example, if
the apparatus is visibly damaged or no longer works
correctly. A complete disconnection from the power
supply is only ensured when the power cord is
disconnected from the power source.

Operating voltage
Before you switch on the device, make sure that the
voltage mentioned on the rating plate complies with
your local power supply.
Location
Place the Silamat S6 in a place where optimum ventila-
tion is ensured. The apparatus should neither be exposed
to direct sunlight nor placed in the immediate vicinity of
heaters. The Silamat S6 is only suitable for use indoors.
Dental materials used
The corresponding instructions for use of the material
suppliers have to be observed.
If an amalgam capsule is leaking, the mercury has to be
removed immediately. Mercury vapours represent an
immediate health hazard. Pick up spillages of mercury
with a reinforced paper (e.g. cardboard) or a plastic
syringe and dispose in the hazardous waste in a closed
container. Do not inhale vapours.
Operation
Start-up
1. Connect the power
cord with the socket at
the rear of the appara-
tus and subsequently
with the mains socket.
2. Switch on the appara-
tus at the rear.
3. Raise the safety cover.
4. Place the mixing
capsule in the mixing
fork.
