RECIPES
Basic recipe - pound cake
(Makes 1 cake)
2 eggs (medium-sized), 70 g butter,
70 g sugar, 1 envelope vanilla sugar,
1 heaping tsp. grated orange peel,
150 gflour, 1 heaping tsp. baking
powder, 30 g coarsely chopped blan-
ched almonds, 80 ml orange juice.
Work all ingredients into a smooth
dough. Pour into the prepared cake
baker and bake for approx. 18 mi-
nutes.
You can always vary this basic recipe
by adding other ingredients. Here are
a few suggestions:
Chocolate cake
Add 60 g melted chocolate and just
1 tbsp. orange juice.
Nut cake
Add 70 g ground nuts, 2 tbsp. Amaret-
to or milk. Leave out the orange peel,
almonds and orange juice.
Apple cake
Peel, core and quarter 1 small apple,
cut into 1 cm pieces, leave out the al-
monds.
Spice cake
Use red wine instead of orange jui-
ce, add 1 pinch ground gloves and
1/4 tsp. cinnamon

Cherry cake
Add 2 tbsp. drained sour cherries,
1 heaping tsp. cocoa, approx. 50 ml
cherry juice, and 1 pinch cinnamon.
Leave out the orange peel, orange jui-
ce and almonds.
Whole-grain cake
Replace sifted cake flour with whole-
grain flour, in this case you will need a
little more liquid (approx. 1 to 2 tbsp.
more of the respective liquid).
You can also use your previous pound
cake recipes or the usual cake mixes.
Your own recipes or the cake mixes will
probably make several cakes. In this
regard, always pay attention to the ma-
ximum fill quantity of the appliance,
because the dough expands when ba-
king. Fill the pan a maximum of 3/4
full, because the dough rises when ba-
king.
For a cake in the cake baker, please use
6 heaping tablespoons of your previous
dough.
If you want smaller cakes, e.g. for a
child's birthday party or for decorati-
on, only fill the pan half full and bake
the cake for 8-10 minutes.
