Operating Instructions

- Do not saw into nails or screws
- Do not work with materials containing asbestos.
- Do not use any saw blades that are cracked or
whose shape has changed. Only use sharp saw
blades that are best suited for the material.
- Under no circumstances use abrasive disks!
- Saw blades of highly alloyed, high-speed steel
(HSS-steel) must not be used.
- Feeding too fast significantly reduces the perfor-
mance of the machine and short ens the life of the
saw blade.
- Use only sharp saw blades in perfect con dition.
- Uncoated saw blades can be protected from cor-
rosion with a thin coat of acid free oil.
- Resin and glue on the saw blade cause poor cut-
ting results. Therefore, clean the saw blade im-
mediately after use.

8.1 Working different materials

Wood
The proper selection of the saw blade is dependent on
the type and quality of the wood as well as whether
the wood is to be sawed along or across the grain.
Beech and oak dust is especially detrimental to health
and therefore should be worked only with vacuum
dust extraction.
Plastic
When cutting plastic, especially PVC, long, spiral
shaped shavings are produced that can be electro-
statically charged.
This can cause the ejector to become clogged and the
swinging protective guard [1-8] to stick. The use of a
dust extractor for dust extraction is recommended.
Apply the machine running against the work piece
and carefully start sawing. Then saw steadily and
without interruption so that the saw teeth have less
chance of sticking.
Non-ferrous Metals
Use only a suitable and sharp saw blade. This ensures
a clean cut and prevents jam ming of the saw blade.
Apply the machine running to the workpiece, carefully
start sawing and then saw with slow feeding and
without interruption.
For profiles, always start the cut on the small side;
for U-profiles, never start the cuts on the open side.
Support long profile, otherwise the saw blade can
become jammed when the profile tips over and the
machine can "kick back".
Material with mineral Content (Light building ma-
terial)
- Only dry cutting is permitted.
- Use vacuum dust extraction. The dust extractor
must be suitable for masonry dust.

8.2 Two-Man Operation

The machine has several handholds to allow it to
be used by one or two operators, depending on the
configuration.
Illustration 4a is for one-man operation.
Illustration 4b is for two-man operation.

Using Attachments

You can extend the use of your circular saw by using
the NS-HK 250x50 planing attachment and the
RS-HK 160x80 curve-cutting attachment available
from the Festool range.
Risk of accident, electric shock
f Always pull the plug out of the socket before
performing any type of work on the machine.
9.1 NS-HK 250x50 Planing Attachment
Using the planing attachment, you can mill grooves
and rabbets to a max. depth of 80 mm and a width
of 50 mm (see diagrams below).
Set the saw to minimum cutting depth.
Remove the saw blade [3-3] by following the instruc-
tions in Section 7.7 (Replacing the saw blade).
Unscrew the following components:
Plate [5-1] covering the blade guard
Guard [5-2] covering the pendulum mount
Dust extraction connection [5-3]
Riving knife [5-4]
