Motor protection
The pump must be earthed and protected by a 30 mA
residual current device to IEC 364/NFC 15 100.
Single- -phase a.c. motor (1~):
-- A thermal motor protection device is integrated in the motor.
It stops the pump if the maximum permissible temperature is
reached and re--starts it automatically after the pump has
cooled down.
-- The pump's power supply must be protected by a circuit
breaker set to the rated motor current or a 10A fuse.
Three- -phase motor (3~):
-- The motor is not equipped with an integrated motor protection
device.
-- A control unit with a circuit breaker set to +15% of the rated
motor current must be provided.
5.5.2
Routing the electric cables
After the pump set has been installed, the power cable should
be led upwards with as little slack as possible to prevent dam-
age caused by flow--induced motion.
5.5.3
Float switch
For automatic pump operation, the stop level of the float switch
must be set to a level above dimension R (see dimension
tables, p. 68--69).
5.5.4
Checking the direction of rotation
(three- -phase motors only)
Never hold your hands or any other objects into
the pump!
1st method:
An arrow on the pump casing shows the correct direction of
rotation.
Check the direction of rotation by starting the pump set and
stopping it again (after 5 seconds max.). Observe the impeller
through the opening underneath the volute casing.
2nd method:
Hold the pump by the handle and start it up for a short period (5
seconds max.). If a reactive force in anti--clockwise direction
can be felt, the pump is running in the correct direction of rota-
tion.
If the pump runs in the wrong direction of rotation, interchange
two of the three phases in the control cabinet.

Circuit diagrams
Single- -phase a.c. motor
Electrical connections shall be made in compliance with the
applicable standards.
The cable cross--sections indicated apply to a maximum
length of 20 m. Cable: HO7RN8--F 3 x 1 mm@ (2 phases +
earth).
