OPERATING TROUBLE
8.1. THE PUMP FAILS TO START
8.2. THE PUMP FAILS TO
DELIVER OR DELIVERS
TOO LITTLE
8.3 THE PUMP TRIPS OUT
8.4 WATER IN MOTOR
PROBABLE CAUSE
a) No current:
b) Winding or cable open-circuit:
c) Rotor stalled (the motor
"growls"):
d) The probes are disconnected:
a) Reversal of direction of rotation:
b) Discharge pipe obstructed:
c) impeller obstructed by foreign
bodies:
d) Check valve installed upside
down:
e) The pump takes in air because
the fluid level is too low:
f) The pump turns against a
mattress of air (bell effect) :
g) Impeller worn:
a) IFaulty electrical installation:
b) Water in motor:
c) Pump stalled:
d) The pump is hard to turn:
e) Reversal of direction of rotation:
a) Mechanical seal in poor
condition:
a) Check the line. If necessary, replace the fuses. Close the circuit-
breaker or the switch on the control box.
b) Check the resistances between the cable ends; if necessary, replace
the cable (when this is done, carefully interconnect the conductors
according to the numbers - (see Fig. 4).
c) Remove the end.
Clean the hydraulics (casing + impeller).
d) Have Customer Service check the pump and check the level
settings.
a) See the paragraph on checking the direction of rotation and
proceed as it recommends (interchange two phase wires at the
circuit-breaker or the control box).
b) Remove the pipe and clean it.
c) (See 8.1 c).
d) Install the check valve with the flap up.
e) Check operation. Adjust the level control device.
f) Bleed at the check valve. Check at the bleed hole (see figure 1a &
1b, item 14).
g) Replace the impeller and adjust correctly.
a) Check the whole electrical installation.
b) Replace the defective components (have the motor oven-dried by a
specialist). If necessary, replace the bearings.
c) (See 8.1 - c).
d) (See 8.1 - c).
e) See the paragraph on checking the direction of rotation and
proceed as it recommends (interchange two phase wires at the
circuit-breaker or the control box).
a) Lift the pump and replace the mechanical seal(s).
