Abrasive Cutting Wheels
Abrasive cutting wheels are exposed to
high loads, especially during hand-held
cutting.
Only use abrasive cutting wheels that
comply with ANSI B 7.1 for hand-held
machines and are labeled accordingly.
Note that the maximum permissible
speed of the cutting wheel must be
higher than the maximum spindle speed
listed on the wheel guard label.
The abrasive cutting wheels that have
been developed for STIHL for use on the
TS 440 are of high quality and tailored to
the intended uses as well as the engine
specifications and performance of this
cut-off machine. Use of other wheels on
the TS 440 can be extremely dangerous
and may result in severe personal injury
or death. Do not wet cut with a
composite wheel on the TS 440, and do
not use composite wheels designed for
use on traditional, high-speed cut-off
machines; they will wear prematurely
and perform poorly when used on the
TS 440.
Transport and storage
–
Do not expose composite cutting
wheels to direct sunshine or other
thermal stresses during transport
and storage.
–
Avoid jolts and impacts.
–
Stack composite cutting wheels flat
on a level surface in the original
packaging in a dry place where the
temperature is as constant as
possible.
TS 440
–
Do not store composite cutting
wheels in the vicinity of aggressive
fluids or chemicals.
Store composite cutting wheels in a
–
frost-free place.
–
Do not transport a cut-off machine
with a abrasive cutting wheel
mounted, whether composite or
diamond.
Composite Cutting Wheels
Types:
–
for dry applications
STIHL has developed a composite
cutting wheel suitable for dry cutting
metals with the TS 440. STIHL has not
developed a composite cutting wheel for
cutting other materials with the TS 440,
or for wet cutting. Composite cutting
wheels should not be used for wet
cutting with the TS 440. Composite
cutting wheels designed for use on
higher speed machines will perform
poorly when mounted on the TS 440 and
should not be used.
WARNING
Use only diamond cutting wheels for wet
cutting with the TS 440. Wet cutting with
a composite cutting wheel may increase
the risk of wheel breakage, resulting in
severe or fatal injury.
