9. Cleaning and Maintenance

Cleaning and disinfection
Please check the housing of your infrared thermometer at regular
intervals for any visible signs of damage or soiling and please
make sure that the keys are in good working order. Please ensure
that the infrared lens of the infrared sensor is always clean and
free of any dirt or other substances. Your infrared thermometer
should be checked once a year using a suitable means of testing
to check the measuring accuracy (see operating instructions). The
monitoring of the measuring accuracy, which must take place at
least once a year, is the responsibility of the user. The manufac-
turer, which has suitable normative values at its disposal, can be
commissioned to perform comparative measurements.
Please use a slightly moistened soft cloth and a soap solution to
remove any dirt or other signs of fouling on the housing or the
infrared lens. Please make sure that there are no remains of the
cleaning solution on either the housing or the lens when cleaning
has been completed. Do not immerse the thermometer in any
liquid! The thermometer can then be disinfected using a 70%
isopropyl alcohol solution. Please store the thermometer at room
temperature in its original casing or a protective sheath when not
used over a longer period.

10. General information

• The most important and at the same time most fragile part
of your infrared thermometer is the glass that protects the lens.
Please be very careful with this.
• The glass is cleaned with a cotton cloth slightly moistened with
water or a 70 % alcohol solution.
• Never use batteries other than the AA batteries described
above. Do not use rechargeable batteries. Never throw spent
batteries on an open fire.
• Remove the batteries from the infrared thermometer if the ap-
pliance is not to be used for a longer period of time.
• Do not expose the IR thermometer to sunlight for long periods,
to direct sunlight, or to water.
• Protect the appliance against shocks. Even slight jolts can
damage the measuring instrument.
