2 Safety

2.1 General warnings

WARNING!
Risk of entrapment / suffocation
There's a risk of entrapment / suffocation between
mattress support, side rail and bed end
– The bed or side rail must not be used for persons
under 12 years of age.
– The bed or side rail must not be used for persons
under 45 kg or under 150 cm height.
If the bed is used for restless (spasm) or confused users,
there's a risk when the patient operates the bed.
– Make sure that the user can't operate the bed or
side rail on his/her own (e.g. disable mechanical and
electrical adjustments of the bed functions).
WARNING!
Risk of user slipping through the openings
The bed fulfils all requirements regarding maximum
distances. However, it is possible that userss with small
body dimensions slip through the openings between the
side rails or through the opening between the side rail
and the mattress support.
– Pay special attention, if the bed is used for the care of
users with small body dimensions.
CAUTION!
Risk of injury
There is a risk of entrapment while operating the side rail.
– Pay attention to your fingers.
– Never force or drop the side rail while handling it.
2.2 Matresses
WARNING!
Safety aspects regarding combination of side rails
and mattresses:
In order to obtain the highest possible safety level, when
using side rails on the bed, it is important to respect the
minimum and maximum measures for mattresses.
– For correct mattress measures; see Bed User Manual
for the bed in use.
WARNING!
Risk of entrapment and/or suffocation
The user could get trapped and/or suffocate, if the
horizontal space, between the mattress and the inside
of the side rail, is too big.
– Follow the minimum width (and length) of mattresses
in combination with a given side rail, as stated in the
mattress table.
– Be aware that using very thick or soft mattresses (low
density), or a combination of these, increases the risk.
WARNING!
Risk of falling
The user can fall over the edge and get seriously injured,
if the vertical distance, between the top of the mattress
and the edge of the side rail/bed end, is too short.
– Always keep a minimum distance of 22 cm. The
maximum mattress height in combination with a given
side rail is stated in the mattress table.

3 Setup

3.1 Receiving the product

When you receive the product, check the packaging. If the product
shows any signs of damage upon delivery, do not use the product.

3.2 Installing the side rail

IMPORTANT!
– Before installing the side rail, check that your bed
configuration is compatible with this side rail. This
information is included in your bed user manual.
WARNING!
Risk of personal injury
There is a risk of entrapment or squeezing, while
assembling or disassembling the side rail.
– Follow instructions carefully.
– After each assembly, check that all fittings are properly
tightened and that the side rail has the correct function.

Pull out the pin and mount the bracket on the side rail. Make
sure the pin locks the bracket and that the hand wheel is on the
outside of the side rail.
2. Do the same thing on the other side.
3. The installation on the bed must be done with the side rail in
locked position.
4.
Loosen the knobs A on both attachments on the side rail.
