3 | Safety
3.1 | Intended use
The saddlebags are used for carrying luggage on the motorcycle. They are installed at the rear of the
motorcycle underneath the pillion set.
Since these saddlebags are universal products and are not intended for only one particular vehicle, it
is important to make sure that the bags are suitable for your motorcycle before you use them for the
first time. Always follow the instructions in your vehicle owner's manual and the directions of the ve-
hicle manufacturer. This is essential as improper use of this product, or its unsuitability for a vehicle,
could impair the safety of the vehicle and/or damage it.
3.2 | Safety instructions
WARNING!
Risk of accidents and fire!
• Always attach the saddlebag to a part of your motorcycle which can withstand
the wind forces that occur, and well clear of heat sources.
• The saddlebags must never be fitted in front of the open end of the exhaust.
• Also ensure that when the suspension is fully compressed, there is sufficient
space between the saddlebags and the exhaust.
• Loose/protruding lashing straps and belts should be stowed away or shortened
so that they cannot get caught in rotating parts of the motorcycle, which could
cause a crash.
• When packing the bags, distribute the weight evenly – max. load 5 kg per bag.
• Adapt your riding style to the new situation. You must not exceed a maximum
speed of 120 km/h. A test ride on easy terrain at a gentle speed is a good way
to accustom yourself to the altered road holding of your bike.
• Check that the saddlebags are firmly in place and properly fastened at least
every 200 km.
• Always make sure that no lights are obstructed by the saddlebags.
• Check the bags for damaged or missing parts and safety fixtures before each
ride.
• Before each ride, make sure that the fastening straps are properly tightened
and that protruding straps and belts are stowed so that they cannot get caught
in rotating parts.
WARNING!
Danger for children and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental
abilities (e.g. partially disabled persons, elderly persons with reduced physical
and mental abilities) or lack of experience and knowledge in handling
motorcycles (e.g. older children).
• Keep the packaging film away from children, as there is a risk of suffocation.
NOTE!
Risk of damage!
• Protect vehicle parts and their delicate surfaces which may come into contact
with the luggage system, from scratches caused by friction, vibration etc. This
is achieved, for instance, using transparent, self-adhesive protective films.
